Don't shoot the messenger but there is a rumour circulating (see Newsnow) that both Carroll & Reid broke a curfew & were sneaking back into the hotel after a drunken night out & Carroll fell on Reid off a hotel balcony
Might easily be someone making up mischief, though it's that crazy it could be plausible

We have never been able to rely on Carroll but Reid is now under the same bracket.
Carroll likely to see out his last year of his contract with us. Reid is here until 2020. Need to try and move him on if we can and go all out for Alfie Mawson.

Wouldn't surprise me if the board were trying to engineer an injury forced retirement on Carrol to pocket the insurance money.
they wouldn't get anything out of insurance other than his wages covered till the end of his contract (this season)

No real surprise. Ties in with what i said on the Wilshere thread last week about the more you get injured the more likely you are to have your body break down on you again and pick up further injuries.
Said this before too....but Carroll cant be considered a squad player. We should build and plan a squad without him and if he is fit then its a bonus. Reid is starting to head that way too which is a shame as on top form he is a very good CB.
What i liked about the statement was Pellegrini's quote of now he basically wants 2 more signings to replace them and sticking the onus on the owners. Go orn Manuel son!

For me, Carroll paid for himself last season with his few goals that were important to keeping us up. E.g. West Brom at home.
He does always seem to do enough when he comes back. It's just a shame that he is one if the reasons we are down there by always being injured.
Reid - been a good servant to club but after last few years it's time to part ways for both clubs.

Pellegrini’s pursuit of another centre half makes sense as Reid looks finished.
At the moment he has Ogbonna, Diop, Rice (who he might want to use as a defensive midfielder) & Oxford who he is presumably evaluating.
Can understand wanting a Mawson or Lascelles as you never quite know whether someone like the Paraguayan will be up to it.
Someone like Ginge as an emergency option who doesn’t expect to play a lot could still do a job if none of the younger boys are ready to fill that role.

Last season this would have been very depressing news but given i think Carroll was not going to be a first choice starter its not such a big issue, Reid may have been but im sure Pelli knows all about his regular injury's. It may even get the owners spending a bit more than planned?
Still has me shaking my head though.
just hope the new signings can stay injury free.

Regarding contracts, when will football clubs wise up and do them liek the NFL so if they don't make a certain amount of games or performances aren't up to scratch, they don't get their full whack. If you're performing and meeting all expected criteria, you get paid handsomely. If not. you get a sick note minimum or potentially released without penalty. Their attitudes and the way the look after themseleves would soon step up.

With Reid out and Ginge gone. The Kids (are Oxford, Burke still kids) will not get a better chance to Nail down a place in the 1st Team/Squad.
They need step up and grab the chance or move on.
As for Carroll he must no his time as a footballer is up (shame as I like his style of play just not see it enough)

Surely time for Carroll to call it a day with regards to playing football .
Surely there is some way to terminate his contract as not fit for purpose.

Probably means we aren't selling a centre back though.
